This is my sweet daughter learning to ride without training wheels for the first time.
Her every sense totally alive, Melissa had to use her body in brand new ways that day so many years ago. There was no looking back. Only the awareness of where she was going, and what it would take to get there.
When the wind's blowing through your pink and purple handlebar tassels there's not much to do but be present and let your grin extend from ear to ear.
You've got to be fully awake when you're doing something brand new.
Some big changes I've been asking for are showing up and I'm feeling a little shaky. Exploring a brand new landscape, nothing is familiar anymore. I haven't moved or changed jobs, or relationships. The new territory is internal. It's who and how I BE that's shifted and I've transformed dynamically.
Nothing seems to "fit" anymore and while it's pretty exciting the excitement has seemed more like fear or frustration a little too much.
This photo of Melissa leading the way into a brand new experience is a sweet reminder that I am also riding - gliding into a new future. Maybe you are too.
If so, there's nothing left to do but let the breeze tickle your tassels, smile wide, and look to where you'd like to go next.
Lit and Comp teacher gone rogue, disguised now as a Living and Relationship Coach, Body Worker, and Access Consciousness Facilitator, I still sneak off to write because, well, it makes me come alive and it's one of the joyful ways I create the future.
